1.5 cups thinly sliced apples
3/4 cups molasses
1/3 cup shortening (I used butter)
1/2 cup hot water
2.5 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
