This is a blog about old-school home economics, crafts, and other such subjects. The word “oeconomy”, from which we get “economy”, originally applied to the management of households, and that’s where this blog gets its name.
Before you start thinking I’m some sort of stay-at-home mom, I have to point out that I’m a pretty modern woman. I work in high tech, I’m single, I’m independent. I just like cooking, sewing, and other textile crafts. I’m also interested in living in a more environmentally friendly and less consumerist fashion. All this ties into my fascination with old books on home management, etiquette, cookery, and crafts; domestic history is a bit of a thing for me.
So, what you’ll find here:
* Cooking
* Sewing
* Knitting
* Environmentalism
* Personal finance
* All of the above, considered historically
